Nintendo 3DS cozy



8-yo Akshat requested me to make a cover for his precious Nintendo 3DS after he saw the iphone covers I knit for me and DH. He cited his favorite colors - red and blue - to be used. 
This one is for Akshat!

This is my first ever written knitting pattern!!! Feel free to knit as many you wish for gifting purposes. The copyright of this pattern belongs to “Atreyee of createtcetera”. Feedback welcome.

Difficulty: 
Advanced beginner (Knowledge of CO, BO, ribbing, stockinette stitch, adding color, mattress stitch seaming required.)

Materials:
Bulky yarn: Main color MC (Red), Contrast Color CC (Dark Blue) (I used Loops & Threads Charisma, but any similar weight yarn would work.
US size 10.5 needles 
Darning needle

Gauge: 
6 stitches and 10 rows in 2 inches of stockinette

Size:
Finished work is 13cm wide and 10cm tall, snug enough for a Nintendo 3DS!

Pattern: 
(Even rows are RS and odd rows are WS)
Using MC cast on 16 stitches.
Row 1-3: k2p2 (ribbing)
Row 4-19: stockinette st (knit RS and purl WS)
Row 20-21: Join CC and stockinette st (knit RS and purl WS)
Row 22-31: Continue using MC and stockinette st (knit RS and purl WS)
Row 32-34: k2p2 (ribbing)
Bind off in pattern.

Finishing:
Sew in loose ends using darning needle.
Using mattress stitch, seam the sides of the work.
Using CC, embroider initials on the plain MC side.
