My first proper shawl and biggest knitted project yet (not considering the year in quilt project that is a continuous WIP)... and I am naming it for my favorite Victorian romance - Pride and Prejudice (duh. of course that's my favorite!). I can totally see this on one of the Bennet sisters' shoulders.
*My feet in the last picture is intentional - to give an idea of the scale!*
A tad monotonous in knitting the huge triangle garterness... but the fresh green softness of the yarn and the self-deadline for this project is keeping me on my toes!
oct 1 - started the edging just **after finishing 3 skeins**. 270 stitches on needle, and 50 inches wide without blocking at this point.
K1p1 edging for just about 1".
Ruffle k4p4 for wider texture.
(Note: The ruffle takes A LOT of yarn after the increase row. finished a skein of yarn in making the 1" edging + increase row + 1" of the ruffle. 4 skeins down and two more to go at this point.) Hoping I don't run out of yarn before achieving the desired thickness of my ruffle!
oct 8 - just attached the sixth and final ball of yarn at 1" edging + increase row + 3" of the ruffle. Cannot believe **knitting only 2" of the ruffle took an entire ball of yarn**! But I am glad that I will be able to make the ruffle as wide as I want after all!
oct 10 - Bound off at exactly 4". 57" wide and 27" spine without blocking. Very wearable - I hope my dear MIL has some good use out of it!
All done. Thank god did not run out of yarn while BO as afraid. I am happy enough with the FO but am starting to realize I don't like too much of garter stitch after all. Although in this particular case, it is ensuring that the shawl stretches with use. The drape is quite delightful and I'm still not sure if I want to block it a little or not.
